Biography
João Paulo Cunha is currently the Coordinator of Ophthalmology's Department at Hospital CUF Cascais. He is also a Invited Professor at the ESTeSL (IPL) in Lisbon.
In 2018 and 2019 was the Chair of Department of Ophthalmology as Senior Graduate Assistant at Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Central and invited Professor at NOVA Medical School, Lisbon NOVA University
PhD in Ophthalmology since 2017 at NOVA Medical School and MSc in Neuro-Ophthalmology at Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon University in April 2009 with the classification of 20,0 values. He finished his Specialization in Ophthalmology on February 1996 and the post graduation in Neuro-ophthalmology on april 1997. During his ophthalmology carrer he worked in many areas specially in neuro-ophthalmology, retina, cornea and refractive surgery. He also trained oculoplastic surgery at Portuguese Institute of Oncology – Lisbon, 2004. Recently, acting as Senior Graduate assistant of ophthalmology, he was responsible for the research department of ophthalmology, the emergency department, the consultations of neuro-optthalmology and refractive surgery, and the clinical auditor of the service since 2010.
He was awarded fourteen times by Portuguese Society of Ophthalmology with several works in different areas: neuro-ophthalmology, refractive surgery, glaucoma and paediatric ophthalmology. He won three international awards in neuro-ophthalmology and glaucoma.
