Biography
Shinead is Lecturer and First Year Coordinator at La Trobe University in the Department of Occupational Therapy delivering high quality teaching and coordination in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Shinead completed her PhD in 2023, focusing on the preparation of graduates for cultural diversity in occupational therapy practice. Shinead developed the Global Professional Identity Model and is currently exploring perceptions of first and final year occupational therapy students, evaluating the effectiveness of the GPID model in guiding occupational therapy education and professional learning. Shinead has led curriculum redesign and strategic projects to decolonise allied health curriculum, leading disciplines through Accreditation and advocates for strong, meaningful, reciprocal and sustainable partnerships with First-Nations led organisations. Shinead has presented at national and international conferences. Shinead is working towards building her research portfolio which centres on the advocacy for cultural diversity in allied health curriculum; and the preparation of graduates for cultural diversity in occupational therapy practice with skills and attitudes to thrive in a complex and turbulent world.
