Biography

Catherine McMahon is Honorary Professor of Psychology in the Centre for Emotional Health, Psychology Department at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. Her research program and teaching have focused on psychological adjustment during the transition to parenthood in the context of various reproductive risk factors – in particular, perinatal mood disorders and infertility/assisted conception. Her work is informed by attachment theory and her recent and current projects focus on evidence-based approaches to supporting parent wellbeing and the parent-child attachment relationship. Her book "Becoming a Parent: Contemporary Contexts and Challenges" is published by Cambridge University Press and available in hardback, paperback and kindle versions.
