Biography

Dr. Md. Mashiar Rahman has been working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jashore-7408, Bangladesh. Before that, he worked as an Assistant Professor from October 2013 to May 2021 in the same Department of Jashore University of Science and Technology. From September 2012 to August 2013, he also worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Microbiology and Genetics, Department of Medicine, Jeonbuk National University, Jeonju, 561-712, South Korea. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in August 2012 in Medical Science from the Department of Medicine at Jeonbuk National University, South Korea, and a B. Sc and M. Sc degree from Islamic University, Bangladesh. Before enrolment in the Ph.D. program, he worked as a research assistant at Jeonbuk National University, South Korea from June 2008 to February 2009. He is a life member of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society and the Alzheimer’s Society of Bangladesh. Till now, as the Principal Investigator, he has been awarded 134775.00 USD in grants from different research grantees. He is an editorial board member of five journals and a reviewer of more than 10 journals. He has received 3 international awards and 2 fellowships. His main research interests are in neuroscience (protein misfolding in neurodegenerative diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia, Parkinson’s disease, Prion disease, ALS and Huntington disease), aging, natural products, bioactive molecules, drug design and discovery, proteomics, stem cells, as well as the identification and characterization of bioactive molecules useful for the treatment of neurodegenerative, microbial, oxidative, inflammatory, and age-related diseases. His research is well documented in more than 35 papers published in peer-reviewed international scientific journals.
