Biography
Degree in Biology and Master's Degree in Biomedicine from the University of Granada, and University Expert in Medical Genetics and Genomics from the Catholic University San Antonio of Murcia. Enrolled in the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Medicine and Public Health.
In 2014, she began her training in biomedicine as part of the Master in Regenerative Biomedicine, where she developed her master's thesis entitled: "Polymorphisms in toxicant metabolizing genes and their implication in prostate cancer". Thanks to her laboratory skills and dedication, in 2015 she was offered a training contract as a research fellow at the Genomics and Genotyping Unit of the Pfizer-University of Granada-Junta de Andalucía Centre for Genomics and Oncological Research (GENYO). Since then, she has acquired extensive experience in techniques such as next generation sequencing (preparation and enrichment of DNA and RNA libraries for NGS); genotyping, methylation and expression analysis using microarrays; quantitative and digital PCR; sample handling, organization and quality control; identification and treatment of problematic samples, optimization of protocols and interaction with users of the center; training and support in the use of specific techniques and in the use of new equipment, as well as advice on experimental design and management of training workshops.
Later, in 2016, she became part of the pharmacogenetics group at the GENyO Center and at the Pharmacy Department of the San Cecilio University Hospital, as a technical collaborator of the group with a contract related to the European project "U-PGx - Ubiquitous Pharmacogenomics" (funded by the Horizon 2020 research and innovation program). This project aimed to address the main challenges and barriers to the implementation of pharmacogenetic testing in patient care, taking into account the diversity of health systems and citizens across Europe, thus promoting an approach to precision medicine. During this period, she has participated in numerous projects related to pharmacogenetics, presented communications at national and international congresses and participated in the publication of relevant articles in the field.
