Biography

I have a degree in General Chemistry from the Lebanese University. After that I register in a master’s degree titled ¨Expertise and Processing in Environment¨ which I have doing a project on the analysis of pesticides in olive oil in LaRochelle, France. This project was the first stone of research in my life in the field of Analytical Chemistry. In 2013, I obtained my PhD in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry from the University of Bordeaux (I) in the development of the Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) and the analysis of antibiotics in water systems by LC/MS/MS. Once finishing my thesis, I have gone back to Lebanon for a post doc in the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission (LAEC) attached to the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS). I have started my research line in the Laboratory of Analysis of Organic Contaminant (LACO). From that moment, I have focused my research work to get more expertise in the analysis of organic contaminants and their metabolites (by-products) such as pesticides, veterinary drugs and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in food and environment using chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. Numerous research articles have been published in international journals since 2011. The purpose of tracking the organic contaminants in Lebanon´s food supply and environment in my work have imported a significant amount of data for the country and making an indicator in this field especially with the big lack of this studies. In the same context, I have investigated with colleagues from many universities (Bordeaux and Lebanon) in several studies for the evaluation of the photodegradation, the advanced oxidation (Chlorination…) and the Bioremediation processes used in water treatment to remove any contaminant present in the water system like wastewater. Also, this research team studies the kinetics of these reaction involved in the removal of contaminants in the water disinfection system. In addition, structural identification of degradation products helped us to estimate their potential toxicity using computer modelling. Many articles have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. In 2014, I have started teaching many courses in chemistry but also in the analytical technics in the Lebanese University. To strengthen the field of research, many collaborations have been conducted with many universities in Italy and France as well as the Lebanese University to supervise doctoral and master students in the same scientific path of the research projects helping the new generation to build a new skill and the expertise to participate in our social and scientific problems. This participation in forums and networks has led me to be invited to give talks more than 8 congresses and I have been selected to make oral presentations but also poster in some of them. Similarly, strong cooperation with the ministries of agriculture, environment and economies in Lebanon has developed at the national level to assist them in health and environmental security issues. In the same context mentioned above, several projects with the Lebanese Council for Scientific Research and the International Commission of Atomic Energy have been accomplished. Recently, I have been started a new postdoc position in the University of Jaime I in Spain.
