Biography
Professor Alessandro Ceschi, M.D., M.Sc., EuCP, FEAPCCT, FRCP Edin, is a clinical pharmacologist and toxicologist and general internal medicine specialist physician (board certified). He is Chief physician and Medical and scientific director of the Institute of Pharmacological Sciences of Southern Switzerland, the Head of the Division of clinical pharmacology and toxicology, which includes the Regional pharmacovigilance centre, and the Chairman of the Drug and Therapeutics Committee at Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC). He is Director of the Clinical Trial Unit EOC (CTU-EOC) and Deputy Chief of the Academic Education, Research and Innovation Area of the General Directorate EOC. He has been the Coordinator of the Accompanying group EOC-Faculty of Biomedical Sciences USI and Member of the EOC Scientific Research Advisory Board.
Prof. Ceschi is Consultant at the Department of clinical pharmacology and toxicology of the University Hospital Zurich.
He is Professor of medicine (Titularprofessor) in clinical pharmacology and toxicology at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Southern Switzerland, Senior lecturer in clinical pharmacology and toxicology at the Faculty of medicine of the University of Zurich, and Lecturer in clinical toxicology at the Department of pharmaceutical sciences of the University of Basel.
He is Member elected by the Federal Council as representative of the Swiss Medical Association at the Federal Drug Commission of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health.
Prof. Ceschi is Board member at the Swiss Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, Steering Committee member at the Swiss Group of Pharmacogenomics and Personalised Therapy, and is active Member of several international and national scientific medical societies. He is Fellow of the European Association of Poisons Centres and Clinical Toxicologists.
He is Expert for the World Health Organization Global Patient Safety Challenge Medication Without Harm, Member of the WHO Global Patient Safety Network, and Collaborator at the Center for the Advancement of Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety.
