Biography
Oluwafemi Bamigbade is a lecturer in the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He holds a PhD in Sociolinguistics from University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He teaches courses in Sociolinguistics and Applied linguistics and has a couple of local, national and international publications with focus on sociolinguistic and demographic factors as indices for sociolinguistic phenomena such as language contact, language shift and maintenance and Linguistic imperialism. His works also revolves around the dialectal complexity in some mulit-dialectal and multi-ethnic communities in Nigeria. The endangerment of the Languages of Lesser Circulation (LLC) by languages wider communication and the survival of minority languages also feature prominently in his researches. He is a member of the Linguistic Association of Nigeria and West African Linguistic Society. His current research is in the area of cultural/anthropological linguistics, multimodal discourse and the role of language use in Artificial Intelligence
