Biography
Shogo Ishizuka is currently a principal researcher of the Global Zero Emission Research Center (GZR), the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Tsukuba in 2003, working with Prof. Katsuhiro Akimoto on the growth of copper oxide semiconductor thin films for solar cell applications, and started working on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) thin film solar cells as a post doc at AIST. In 2004, he joined the Research Center for Photovoltaics (RCPV), AIST, as a research scientist and continued studying CIGS solar cells. From 2011-2012, he worked for the National Center For Photovoltaics (NCPV), National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), USA, as a visiting scientist for a year. He became a senior researcher in 2010, a chief senior researcher in 2017, a team leader in 2018 (a group leader in 2020 after reorganization in AIST), and a prime senior researcher (currently principal researcher) in 2022. After those, He joined GZR in 2023. His research background is applied physics and materials science based on thin film technologies including film growth, device fabrication, and characterizations. His current research interests include chalcogenide materials for thin-film photovoltaics and related energy conversion applications.
