Biography

Florian Lesage is senior research director at INSERM (French National Health Institute). He is a molecular biologist with extensive experience in ion channel cloning, expression and characterization, in particular in the neurosensory systems. He has identified a novel class on ion channels that are promising targets for the development of new medicines. Located at Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (IPMC, Sophia Antipolis, France) Florian Lesage‘s research group is currently aimed to a better understanding of the structure, physiology and physiopathology of these channels. This includes fundamental approaches (ion channel proteomics, mouse gene inactivation) and more clinical aspects (potential role of ion channels in genetic and acquired neuronal disorders). Florian Lesage has authored 15 international patents and >100 publications that have received more than 11000 citations (http://scholar.google.fr/citations?user=4RXbfuMAAAAJ&hl=fr&oi=ao). Florian Lesage is the director of the Laboratoire d'Excellence "Ion Channel Science and Therapeutics" (LabEx ICST, www.labex-icst.fr/en). He is a member of the scientific advisory board of INSERM and of section 69 (neuroscience) of the Conseil National des Universités.
