Biography

Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto is currently a senior lecturer at the Department of International Law, Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia since 2012. He is the founder and chair of Base for International Law and ASEAN Legal Studies (BILALS) in Indonesia. He is also the member of Asian Society of International Law (ASIL) and Indonesian Society for International Law Lecturers (ISILL). He is also editorial member at Ius Quia Iustum Journal, Prophetic Law Journal, Jurnal Ketahanan Nasional (Indonesian National Resilence Institute/Lemhannas), and Jurnal Al-Adl.

He earned a Bachelor of Laws degree (S.H.) from Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) in 2008 and won the UII Golden Badge for having the highest GPA; Master of Law (M.H.) from UII in 2009; Master in European and International Business Law (L.LM.) from the University of Debrecen in 2015; and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the Gèza Marton Doctoral School of Legal Studies, University of Debrecen with the Summa Cum Laude predicate in 2017. He has received a Scholarship from the Hungarian Government (2014) to support his PhD studies, Campus Scholarship Mundus for short term study at the Faculty of Law, University of Utrecht, Netherlands (2015), Silver Medalion of Dr. Ihrig Károly (2016), and Best Speaker awards at national and international conferences.

He is very active in research and writing with special interests in International Economic Law, Humanitarian Law, Diplomatic and Consular Law, and International Dispute Resolution Law. He received various research grants nationally and internationally such as: from Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (2012), John Hopkin School of Public Health (2014), Hungarian Academic of Sciences (MTA-DE Public Service Research Project, 2015), South Korean National Institute of Science and Technology Development (2020-2022), Erasmus iHiLead Grants (2022-2024), and George Mason University (2023).
