Biography
Bo Cao is a Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at the School of Civil Aviation, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), and a recipient of the National Young Talent (Overseas) Program. He earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from Hiroshima University, Japan, and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Freiburg, Germany, from 2020 to 2023. His research focuses on the impact dynamics behavior of advanced materials and structures, static/dynamic mechanical properties of additive manufacturing materials, and stress/strain-induced martensitic phase transformation mechanisms.
In recent years, he has published over 30 high-impact papers in leading materials and mechanics journals, including International Journal of Impact Engineering, Engineering Fracture Mechanics, Materials Science and Engineering: A, Materials & Design, International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, and Journal of Materials Science & Technology. He has led several research projects, including the National Young Talent (Overseas) Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Hiroyoshi Research Grant, and the Taicang Basic Research Program General Project.
Prof. Cao has been honored with awards such as the Research Award from the Japan Society for Design Engineering and the Research Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan (JSAE).
