Biography
Dr. LiGuo Wang received his Ph.D degree in September 2017 from Department of Engineering Sciences, Uppsala University, M.S. degree in July 2013 from Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and B.S degree from School of Machinery and Automobile Engineering, Hefei University of Technology, China. He was an exchange/joint/visiting/ student at Thermal Science and Energy Engineering, University of Science and Technology of China (2010-2011), Institute for Energy System at University of Edinburgh (UK, 2016-2017), and Department of Electric Power Engineering at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (2016). Since September 2017, he has been working at Uppsala University as a researcher.
Dr. Wang has seven years of research experience on Renewable Energy, with specialization in Ocean Wave Energy. Research covers key areas relevant to wave energy converters, e.g. fluid-structure interaction, power take-off systems, energy storage, and control strategies. These activities are conducted through analytical analysis, numerical simulation, water tank test of prototypes, and sea test of full-scale devices, under supervision of internationally recognized experts in wave energy, i.e Professor Jan Isberg, Professor Stephen Salter, Professor Elisabetta Tedeschi, Professor YaGe You, and Dr. Jens Engstrom. Dr. Wang has received many awards as Merits Student and Best Paper Owner.
Dr. Wang’s current research interests:
1. Ocean Wave Energy: Novel design of wave energy converters; System Modelling; System control and optimization; large-scale wave power farm.
2: Renewable Power System: Integration of Renewable Sources into Isolated grid and smart grid.
3. Energy storage.
4. Fluid-structure interactions.
5. Climate Change.
