Biography

Mario Burton (he, him, his), SHRM-SCP, GPHR, is the Vice President of People and Culture at Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired in San Francisco. He is a DEIB professional who has spent the last 12 years working with organizational leaders to address the concerns of marginalized employees. His work includes developing organizational cultures around accessibility.

While his master’s thesis focused on eliminating barriers to entering the workforce, his current doctoral studies focus on organizational and social leadership and change. As a PhD candidate at Antioch University, he has plans to complete his dissertation this year which focuses on the lessons organizational leaders can learn from specific marginalized populations about developing more equitable and critically conscious organizations.
