Biography
Emmanuel Boselli, MD, PhD, is working as an anesthesiologist in Édouard Herriot hospital, a university teaching hospital belonging to the Hospices Civils de Lyon, Lyon, France. Besides, as a researcher, he has purchased numerous experimental and clinical studies in his PhD area of expertise, i.e. “Optimization of the administration of anesthetic and intensive care agents”, with more than 70 papers published in this field. His first papers were devoted to the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antibiotic agents in intensive care patients, in particular to optimize the use of antibiotics during the treatment of ventilator-acquired pneumonia. He has now turned to exclusive anesthetic practice and has published many papers in the area of the optimization of the administration of anesthetic agents during regional or general anesthesia in various populations (obstetrics, elderly, outpatient surgery...). Since 2012, he developed the use of analgesia monitoring with analgesia/nociception index (ANI) in both awake and anesthetized patients and has already published three studies on this topic. The optimization of pain management during general anesthesia based on individual analgesia monitoring represents a real innovation for anesthesiologists during general anesthesia, but also for other healthcare providers in other clinical situations, such as chronic pain, neonatology, etc.
