Biography
Guadalupe Ortiz obtained her degree in Computer Science and Engineering and joined the University of Extremadura as a full-time lecturer (Asociado LRU TC) in 2001. In 2007 she defended her doctoral thesis with Cum Laude and European Mention. In October 2009 she joined the University of Cadiz as Contratado Doctor and, in 2012, she obtained there the position of Tenured Associate Professor (civil servant Profesor Titular de Universidad), and since March 2024 she is the Full Professor in the latter.
She has published more than one hundred publications in JCR-indexed journals, CORE-indexed conferences, other conferences and journals of interest, book chapters and books in the scope of her main lines of research, namely event-driven and service-oriented architectures, model-driven development, complex event processing, context awareness, aspect-oriented programming, Internet of Things and Smart Cities. She has participated as PC in multiple international and national conferences related to service orientation, as organizing committee in ICSOC 2022, IEEE SOSE 2022, ESOCC 2022, IEEE SOSE 2021, ICSOC 2017, JCIS 2017, ESSOC 2014 and JCIS 2014 and several workshops. She has participated as SC during the last 17 years in the WESOACS workshop, organized in conjunction with ICSOC (GGS Class 2) or ESOCC (GGS Work in progress). She has been local organizer and general chair of the international congress “Techniques and Applications for Mobile Commerce” in 2009 and is currently member of the SC of JCIS. She regularly reviews articles for JCR-indexed journals.
Since 2002, she has participated continuously as a researcher in national research projects and actions and as Principal Researcher in 4 national projects, a national action, an Andalusian project and an AECID action, as well as in a project of the University of Extremadura. She is currently project evaluator in the Spanish Research Agency. She has visited several European universities; some of them, among the 200 most prestigious universities in the world. She has enjoyed a research stay with José Castillejo grant. She has supervised 3 PhD Thesis and is currently co-supervising 3 PhD students. With regard to technology transfer, she has collaborated in a study contract with the IBM laboratory in Zurich, awarded as one of the three best IBM laboratories in Europe; as well as with the Andalusian company Novayre Solutions S.L. in the promotion of knowledge linked to its research and the company's software products. She has also participated in several contracts with AIRBUS in the scope of big data analysis and have registered the intellectual property of 5 software products. Besides she is currently collaborating in three research and knowledge-transfer projects with Puerto Real Energy Group (GEN).
Her current research interests focus mainly on the application of complex event processing and context awareness techniques in the domains of Internet of Things, Smart Cities and Ambient Assisted Living with a special emphasis on improving the quality of life of people and the sustainability of our cities.
