Biography

Prior to joining the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) [Morocco], Prof. Kh Md Nahiduzzaman was a faculty member at the Faculty of Applied Science in the University of British Columbia (UBC) Okanagan [Canada], the Dept. of City and Regional Planning in King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) [Saudi Arabia]. He also held faculty positions at the Dept. of Urban Planning and the Environment in the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) [Sweden] and Dept. of Urban and Rural Planning in Khulna University [Bangladesh]. He has been a research fellow at ADBI (Asian Development Bank Institute), Japan, NIAS (Nordic Institute of Asian Studies) in Copenhagen, Denmark and Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, Brown University, USA.

Prof. Nahid’s core research interests fall at the intersection of urban and territorial resilience, smart cities, digital twins and transformational planning, and urban studies. He is heavily engaged on collaborative research projects with the key governments and industrial partners, and First Nations (indigenous communities) across Morocco, European countries and the province of British Columbia (BC), Canada. A number of reputed research grants are credited to his account. Notable funders are UM6P, DFID (UK), British Council (UK), Brown University (USA), Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), KACST/NSTIP (Saudi Arabia), KACARE (Saudi Arabia) and industrial partners in BC, including Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB), BC Real Estate Association (BCREA), Real Estate Foundation BC (REFBC), Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO), Mitacs, etc.

He received Ph.D. from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden and M.Phil. from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway. He earned Bachelor degree from Khulna University (KU), Bangladesh. He has more than 15 years of academic experience across the reputed universities in Canada, Saudi Arabia, Norway, Sweden and Bangladesh. His research papers regularly appear in top-ranked international journals, notably Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Urban Planning and Development, Habitat International, Cities, Environmental Impact Assessment Review, Natural Hazards, etc. He is an "Executive" and "Book Review" Editor of the Journal of Urban Management (Elsevier), and Editor-in-Chief of City Development: Issues and Best Practices Journal [University of Ottawa], Associate Editor of Sustainable Infrastructure in Sustainable Cities (Frontiers), Editorial Board Member in Journal of Urban Planning and Development (ASCI).
