Personal information
Biography
I work at the Centre for Vectors and Infectious Diseases Research (CEVDI) from the National Health Institute (INSA) since 2002. My work at CEVDI/INSA has been dedicated mainly to the study of the epidemiology, ecology, diagnosis and maintenance mechanisms in nature of vector-borne viruses, namely arboviruses such as flaviviruses and phleboviruses and rodent –borne viruses such as arenaviruses and hantaviruses. I have a PhD degree in biology (microbiology branch) since 2010 and worked in a postdoc from 2012 to 2015.
I have experience in cell culture and manipulation and a course on laboratory animal science with the requirements of FELASA level C courses.
Besides my education in microbiology, I have a master’s degree in natures’ management and conservation and I have worked a couple of years in ecology of small mammals in natural parks. Hence I have a lot of field experience in live trapping small mammals and also in collecting other vectors of infectious diseases such as sandflies, mosquitoes, hard and soft ticks.
In 2015, I was chosen among more than 100 researchers from all Europe to integrate a group of 4 to participate in a two year training for public health microbiologists (EUPHEM), financed by the European Centre for Diseases Prevention and Control where I had the opportunity to develop my skills in Public Health Microbiology during two years.
Currently I have a permanent contract as a researcher at CEVDI/INSA.
Taking in account my previous work experience and ability to adapt to new areas of knowledge I think I am qualified for a broad spectrum of research fields. I have been part of several research teams so I can say that my social skills are high and that I am an excellent team worker with great communicational abilities. People who chose to work with me will have the opportunity to see a hard and dedicated worker.
