Biography

Li Wu, PhD, is a Virology Professor and the Endowed Chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, Iowa City, USA. His goal is to learn, serve and lead the Department to further promote research, education, and academic service. Dr. Wu is an elected Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology (AAM) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Since 2005, the Wu lab has been studying HIV and host cell interactions and molecular mechanisms of HIV-1 replication, viral pathogenesis, and innate immunity. His lab is investigating the functions and mechanisms of the host protein SAMHD1 and RNA modifications in regulating HIV replication and antiviral innate immunity.
