Biography
Virologist: I am a Group Leader at The Pirbright Institute in the UK. My research has evolved from the study of neglected viral pathogens to the development of animal models and the study of human viruses and I have established myself as one of the leading young researchers in this area. I was recently awarded a prestigious MRC NIRG to launch a research program focused on human respiratory viruses and systems virology. My multidisciplinary and distinct research strategy combines in vivo models, recombinant virus technologies and proteomics with clinical research and emerging technologies such as transcriptomics to study the molecular and cellular basis of host-pathogen interactions, especially the antiviral responses of infected cells.
