Biography

Dr. Mosqueira-Martín graduated in Biotechnology at the University of the Basque Country, UPV/EHU (2017). She obtained a degree in Advanced Immunology at the University of Barcelona and Autonomous University of Barcelona, UB-UAB (2018). She started her doctoral studies in 2019 working as a researcher at HRI Biodonostia for a year. Since 2020 she held a PhD Fellowship from the UPV/EHU until march 2024, when she defended her Doctoral Thesis under the supervision of Dr. Ainara Vallejo Illarramendi and Dr. Maria Itxaso Marti Carrera (UPV/EHU, 07/03/2024). During her doctoral studies, Dr. Mosqueira-Martín has participated in several projects and publications related to calcium homeostasis in various neuromuscular and neurological diseases. Her thesis project was focused on the identification of a lead compound for Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophies, using both in vitro and in vivo models. Regarding the skills developed during this period, she has worked with various molecular biology (qPCR, western blots, immunofluorescence) and microscopy (confocal and high-resolution inverted microscopy) techniques. Additionally, she has worked with high-throughput cellular techniques such as microelectrode arrays and calcium live imaging techniques. She has also stablished different histological techniques. As for models, she has used cellular models (mainly skeletal muscle and heart) and a mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. In the mouse model, she has optimized different motor and behavioral tests.
