Biography

Mohd Khair Hassan was born in Melaka, Malaysia in Nov 1974. He received his BEng (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronics from University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom in 1998 and MEng degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Technology Malaysia (UTM). He later completed his Ph.D. degree specializing in Automotive Engineering from University Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2010. Dr. Mohd Khair Hassan's career highlights his exceptional leadership qualities, which have significantly influenced academia and research. Beginning as the Head of the Control Unit, he fostered excellence and mentored new lecturers. Advancing to Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, he demonstrated strategic vision, leading the department to notable achievements. His journey culminated in his appointment as Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation for the Faculty of Engineering, showcasing his expertise and visionary leadership in driving impactful research initiatives. Dr. Khair's commitment to leadership excellence establishes him as a dynamic and influential figure, poised to continue shaping the academic landscape.

He holds registration as a Professional Engineer in the field of Electronics under the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). Furthermore, he is certified as a Professional Technologist by the Malaysian Board of Technology (MBOT).

He currently serves as the President of the Malaysian Society for Automatic and Control Engineers (MACE), also known as IFAC-MACE Malaysia, and holds senior membership in IEEE. His expertise lies in control systems, electronic automotive control, energy storage systems, and AI applications. His research team is currently focused on projects involving battery aging prediction, energy storage systems, renewable energy, and electric vehicle technology.

Dr. Mohd Khair Hassan's distinguished academic accomplishments are evident in his exemplary supervision of Ph.D. and M.Sc. graduations, with a notable record of ensuring timely graduation for several students. Currently guiding a significant number of Ph.D. and M.Sc. students, he demonstrates an unwavering commitment to nurturing academic excellence. As a thesis examiner, Dr. Khair's expertise spans globally, involving the comprehensive examination of both international and Malaysian Ph.D. theses, along with Malaysian M.Sc. theses.

Dr. Mohd Khair Hassan's professional involvement reflects an extensive and impactful commitment to various facets of academia, research, and industry. Serving as the Program External Assessor for multiple academic programs underscores his dedication to ensuring high educational standards across different levels. Additionally, his role on the Board of Studies for an international university demonstrates a global perspective and contributions to academic curricula beyond national boundaries. As an accreditation panelist for the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) and Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC)and the Malaysia Quality Assurance panel, he upholds the highest standards in engineering education, fostering excellence and continuous improvement.Additionally, he serves as an evaluator and expert panel member for a variety of grant applications.
