Biography
Ismael Puga is a sociologist and researcher at the Universidad Central in Santiago, Chile. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Humboldt University in Berlin in 2013 and currently directs the PhD Program in Advanced Social Studies at the Economy and Society Research Center (ESOC).
He has been a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne, and his work has been published in journals such as Social Forces, Feminist Economics, and Social Movement Studies.
His research encompasses social stratification, educational systems, collective action, and political identity. His current focus is on the intersubjective processes of social legitimation and the problem of ideology, with particular emphasis on how social structures shape individuals' perceptions of dominant ideas and how these perceptions influence political behavior. His work employs both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore how social actors perceive and interact with one another reciprocally.
