Biography
As a Canadian Stem Cell scientist, I have focused my career on using stem cells to understand and fight human disease. My PhD work in the field of diabetes explored how stem cell-derived pancreatic endocrine cell fates are regulated by transcription factors. Moving to the liver and its diseases, my postdoctoral work used human pluripotent stem cells to make special vascular cells of the liver known as Liver Sinusoidal Endothelial Cells (LSECs) which represent a potential cell therapy to treat human diseases like Hemophilia A, NASH, and cancer. In my own lab at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, we are continuing this work to discover regulators of endothelial functions to build new therapeutics.
