Dr Lau is assistant professor in the School of Public Health, the University of Hong Kong. He graduated with a PhD in statistics at the University of Hong Kong. Dr Lau is interested in transmission dynamics of infectious diseases, and situation awareness of disease activity using multiple surveillance data sources. He is currently working on infectious disease surveillance, statistical and mathematical modelling of hand, foot and mouth disease, tuberculosis, scarlet fever and community-acquired methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus, and influenza in human and poultry. He is a member of the International Society for Disease Surveillance.
