Biography
Carmen is a full-time researcher with a focus on the epidemiology of Group B Streptococcus (GBS) isolated from human and food animals through characterizing the phenotype and genotype of the pathogen. She is also interested in antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic bacteria and clinical Gram-positive and -negative bacteria by whole-genome sequencing for the identification of novel antibiotic resistance determinants and mechanisms. Her research encompasses the fields of molecular biology, bacteriology, infectious disease, public health, One Health, and bioinformatics.
