Biography
Trained in the fields of architecture / urban studies and academic as vocation, Ali is a passionate educator and researcher in a diverse range, teaching Architecture, Design and Urban subjects. In his current role as the Course Convenor for Design at UQ College, Ali is working closely with Academic managers in developing the curriculum and teaching in the Foundation and Tertiary Preparation Programs, focusing on creative and critical thinking with an emphasis on the foundational skills in Design. As of January 2025, he is also a Lecturer (Level B) at the UQ School of Architecture, Design and Planning (ADP), coordinating and lecturing second-year history/theory subjects.
In the past, Ali worked at UQ ADP and UQ School of the Environment (SENV) as a sessional academic and taught history/theory and design courses across both undergraduate and graduate levels between 2019 and 2023.
Ali's educational background includes a bachelor of architectural engineering from the Islamic Azad University (IAUT), Tabriz, Iran (2008--2012), a Master of Architecture from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Türkiye (2015--2018) and PhD in Architecture and Urban studies from the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia (2019--2023), where he was a fully funded PhD candidate.
