Biography

Dr. M. Anthony Xavior is a Professor in Manufacturing Department, School of Mechanical Engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India. He has around 26 years of teaching and research experience at VIT, Vellore. His research specialization includes, machinability analysis, metal matrix composites, hard machining (Inconel 718 & Ti6Al4V). He had received research grants from Department of Space, Government of India for machinability analysis of Inconel 718 & SS316. He had also received research grant from Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB), Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) Government of India respectively for the development of composites suitable for various applications. He received funding from the British Council under the scheme "Going Global Partnerships Industry Academia Grants" for the project titled "Empowering Young Engineers in Additive Manufacturing Industry for Future Growth, Innovation and Employability which is being executed in association with Coventry University, UK. Currently, he is working (as a Co-PI) on the SPARC – UKIERI supported international project titled “Development of AI based framework for the prediction of Hydrogen Embrittlement failure on welded and 3D printed parts”, in collaboration with Coventry University, UK. He had published around 210 papers in international and national journals and conference proceedings in the area of materials, manufacturing, characterization and property evaluation. He had produced eleven Doctorates and one Masters by Research in the field of metal matrix composites and machinability studies. Currently he is supervising six research scholars for their PhD thesis. He had visited various institutes in USA, China, Australia, New Zealand, France, Czech Republic, Poland and Singapore for various academic and research purpose. He is a member of ASME, Life Member for Indian Society for Technical Education and Life Member of Institution of Engineers (India). He appears consistently in the list of Top 2% of Scientists in the world as per the study undertaken by Stanford University & Elsevier
