Biography
Eduardo Mateus holds a PhD (2009) in Environmental Sciences and a BSc (1991) in Applied Chemistry (Biotechnology) . He is a research at CENSE - Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research and Technical Senior Research Assistant at the Department of Sciences and Environmental Engineering of the FCT NOVA where he supports research projects, undergraduate and postgraduate research and teaching. His current research interests focus on the study and development of sample preparation and analytical methodologies mainly using chromatographic techniques (e.g. SPE, SPME, GC, mdGC, GCxGC, HPLC and GC/MS) to be applied to the characterization of complex biological and environmental matrices, in Chemical Ecology and remediation processes monitorization and to the analysis of Volatile Organic Compounds, semiochemicals, drugs in biological fluids and Environmental pollutants. He has been a visiting scientist at universities in USA, Australia, Chile and Italy and a researcher in several international and national inter and transdisciplinary projects with themes covering areas such as environmental remediation using electrical-based technologies, valorization of contaminated matrices and recovery of critical raw materials in the context of circular economy, environmental monitoring and ecology, chemical ecology and integrated pest management. He has concluded the supervision/co-supervision of 4 PhDs, edited 1 book, published 17 book chapters and around 75 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. He holds 1 national patent.
