Dr. Anoop Anand Malik has been working for the past 12 years in the field of Biotechnology. Dr. Malik is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate with Dr. Dutta in Department of Plant Pathology at University of Georgia, Tifton, US. He also worked at leading research organizations such as the ICAR National Institute for Plant Biotechnology (NIPB), the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR) in New Delhi, and the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) in Hyderabad before joining TERI School of Advanced Studies (TERI SAS) as a doctoral researcher in 2013.
His doctoral thesis entitled “QTL Mapping in Jatropha using an Advanced Inter-Specific Population”. He has analyzed genetic diversity and population structure in different plant species using molecular markers such as RAPD, ISSR, AFLP, and SSRs. He's been using genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS-SNPs) markers to characterize germplasm and identify QTLs for important traits in Jatropha, tomato, okra, seabuckthorn, chili, cattle, and poultry since 2014. He has more than 20 peer-reviewed research articles and 2 book chapters to his credit. Dr. Malik has also worked as an independent researcher at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna, Austria on “Identification of elite mutants in Jatropha curcas using TILLING”. He has received prestigious travel grants and scholarships from various international foundations like TIGR2ESS, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, etc.
