Biography

Azra Alizad received her M.D. from Tehran University Medical School. She is currently Professor of Radiology in the Department of Physiology and Professor of Biomedical Engineering and associate professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Rochester MN. She directs translational ultrasound research using new ultrasound technologies that includes microvasculature imaging, elastography, vibro-acoustic imaging for diagnosis of abnormalities in breast, thyroid, prostate, neck masses, and axillary lymph nodes. Dr. Alizad has published significant numbers of peer-reviewed papers as well as numerous conference proceedings papers and abstracts. She was chartered standing member of National Institutes of Health, Medical Imaging Study Section. She is ellected Fellow of American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), and member of several scientific Societies including: IEEE, American Association for Cancer Research, Acoustic Society of America, American Medical Association, American Society for Breast Diseases, Radiological Society of North America and American Association for the Advancement of Science.
