Biography
PhD in Genetic and Development by the University of Zaragoza and Professor in Human Anatomy and Histology department at the same university. He joined CIBER-BBN in late 2012, to work as a researcher of the NanoBioCel Group at the UPV/EHU and moved later in 2020 to work at the Instituto de Investigación en IngenierÃa de Aragón (I3A). He has previously worked on stem cell microencapsulation involving: optimization of stem cell microencapsulation techniques, study of new materials for stem cell microencapsulation and preclinical translation of microencapsulated stem cells among others. He has postdoctoral experience on gene therapy, neurodegenerative diseases, DNA vaccines, pancreatic islet isolation, differentiation of embryonic stem cells into insulin producing cell and kidney capsule transplantation on induced diabetic mice. Currently he is interested in modeling and understanding the interactions between cells and with their microenvironment in physiological and pathophysiological conditions to find new personalized therapeutic strategies. His recent research lines are focused on skin on chip and heart on chip models.
