Biography
Xianming QING received the B. Eng from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), China, in 1985, and the PhD from Chiba University, Japan, in 2010.
During 1987–1996, Dr. Qing was with UESTC for teaching and research and appointed as a lecturer in 1990 and an associate professor in 1995. He joined National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1997 as a research scientist. Since 1998, he has been with the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R, formerly known as CWC and ICR), Singapore. He is currently holding the position of senior scientist and the leader of the antenna system group. His main research interests are antenna design and characterization for wireless applications. In particular, his current R&D focuses on miniaturized broadband antennas/arrays for wireless systems, such as satellite systems, microwave/mmW/sub-mmW/THz imaging systems, radio frequency identification (RFID) systems, medical imaging systems, and so on.
Dr. Qing was a recipient of six Science and Technology Advancement Awards in China from 1987 to 1997. He was also a recipient of the Singapore IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award in 2006, 2013, and 2014; Singapore Manufacturing Federation Award in 2014; International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation Best Paper Award in 2010; CST University Publication Award in 2015; and IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Antenna and Propagation Best Student Paper Award in 2016.
He is currently serving as the associate editor of the International Journal of Microwave and Wireless Technologies (Cambridge University Press/EuMA); editorial board member of the International Journal of Microwave Science and Technology; the International Journal of Antennas and Propagation (Hindawi Publishing Corporation); and the Chinese Journal of Electronics (Chinese Institute of Electronics). He has been serving as the technical committee member of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technique Society Technical Committee-24 since 2009, and a regular reviewer for the IEEE T-AP, T-MTT, IEEE-AWPL, MWCL, IET-MAP, and Electronic Letters. He also served as the general co-chair of the IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation 2015 and as the TPC Member and Session Chair for a number of conferences, such as the IEEE AP-S, IEEE iWAT, and EuCAP.
