Biography

Dr Jung Sun YOO is an associate professor of Department of Health Technology and Informatics in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Hong Kong (2023~present). She has a good academic experience and a strong track record of high-quality research in the field of in vivo molecular imaging.
Dr Yoo received her B.S. degree in Physics Education in 2004 and her Ph.D. in Biomedical Physics in 2009 from the Seoul National University, Republic of Korea. During her Ph.D. study, she stayed and performed development of intraoperative imaging setup in the Technical University of Munich, Germany (2007-2008). She later conducted postdoctoral research at the National University of Singapore, Singapore (2011-2013) as a research fellow. Prior to join the PolyU as assistant professor in 2016, she was a BK assistant professor of the Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology at the Seoul National University (2014-2016), Republic of Korea.
Dr Yoo has been focused on translational research to develop and propagate in vivo imaging technology for understanding, diagnosing, and treating human diseases. Her research aims to offer new solutions to change clinical practice using the power of light for better treatment in key areas including cancer, inflammation, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative disease. She integrates highly interdisciplinary skills over physics, engineering, chemistry, biology, and medicine to develop novel preclinical and clinical imaging technologies, multi-modality imaging methods, and creative imaging devices.
As a leading imaging scientist, Dr Yoo has published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals, completed 10 external competitive peer-reviewed grants successfully, and she is the inventor of 7 issued patents. She has received several honors and awards for her innovative work including KOFWST Future Talent Award (2014).
