Biography

I am a Professor in Respiratory Rehabilitation in the School of Health and Life Sciences at Teesside University. I completed my post-doctoral training at West Park Health Care Center, Toronto, Canada following completion of my PhD within the School of Psychology at the University of Leicester. During my PhD I worked clinically as a physiotherapist within the pulmonary rehabilitation department at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester. I hold an NIHR Advanced Fellowship (NIHR300856), and my current programme of research is focused on co-creating a personalised and multifaceted balance intervention for people with COPD. My broader research interests are predominately focused on exploring the extrapulmonary manifestations of COPD, developing and implementing complementary approaches to pulmonary rehabilitation and more recently examining the impact of pre-habilitation in cardiothoracic surgery.
