Biography

I am a PhD Candidate and UGC Senior Research Fellow at the Department of English, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. I received my MPhil and MA in English from Jadavpur University and my BA in English from Presidency University, Kolkata. My areas of academic interest include cultural studies; queer studies, literature and films; diaspora studies and literature (with focus on South Asian queer diaspora) and Indian queer literature in English. My MPhil dissertation focused on how ‘queer spaces’ and queer spatial politics and negotiations have been intersectionally narrativised, re-presented, and problematised in contemporary Indian English-language ‘gay romance’ novels. In my doctoral research, I mainly focus on the intersectional politics of sexuality, home, traversal, and memory in the context of contemporary Indian North American queer diasporic and immigrant literatures and cultures.
