Lillian Barros (LB) graduated in Biotechnology Engineering at the Institute Polytechnic of Bragança, completed her PhD “Doctor Europeus” in Pharmacy (Nutrition and Bromatology) University of Salamanca in 2008, receiving an award for the best thesis of Faculty of Pharmacy. Was awarded with 3 post-doc grants (Jan 2009-Dec 2011; Jan 2012-Jun 2013; Dec 2015-May 2017) by the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology (FCT). She also received a research contract Ciência 2008 (Jun 2013 – Nov. 2015) by FCT, which was carried out at CIMO and was also awarded in 2015 with a Ramon y Cajal research contract to be carried out in Ourense, Spain. Since June 2017, she has a PhD research contract, which is carried out in CIMO, in which she is the coordinator of a research topic.
LB published more than 280 indexed papers, within the highest impact factor journals in Food Science and Technology area and has a 39 h-index (SCOPUS database, Jan 2018). The scientific production has been very relevant and has reached top places in the world rankings, causing LB to join the list of "Highly Cited Researchers" in 2016 and 2017. LB is editor of 3 books (one published in Wiley-Blackwell and 2 to be published in Bentham and Elsevier) and has written 4 book chapters. Editor of a special issue in Current Pharmaceutical Design (Bentham Science), co-editor of two special issue in BioMed Research International, and is member of the editorial board of Journal of Composition and Analysis and International Scholarly Research Notices.
LB has been member of FINANCED RESEARCH PROJECTS with different typologies: 4 FCT I&D; 2 strategic Project; 2 FCT Bilateral cooperation project (Serbia and Brazil); 6 Technology transference projects and 1 Scientific divulgation project and 2 international projects – Eureka, Cyted and INTERREG V España – Portugal (POCTEP) project. L. Barros has important AWARDS namely, Food Technology I&DT 2011, and Eureka 2012 (nº 7596) and 2013 (nº 9147). She served as an expert evaluator for ArimNet2 program (2017) proposals.
LB has experience in the SUPERVISION of Pos-doc (3 in curse), PhD (2 concluded and 5 in curse), Master (12 concluded and 3 in curse) and bachelor (4 concluded, 1 in curse) students, as also 30 PhD student visitors in CIMO. LB has performed INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIPS: 1) Faculty of pharmacy, Univ. of Salamanca, Spain; 2) Institute for Biological Research, Univ. of Belgrade, Serbia; 3) Faculty of Pharmacy, Univ. Complutense of Madrid; 4) Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research of Univ. of São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil. LB has also international collaborations with other Universities in Brazil (Estadual Paulista Univ.), Netherlands (Wageningen Univ.), Poland (Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology), Ireland (Limerick Institute of Technology), Tunisia (Univ. of Monastir), and Argentina (Centro de Investigación y Extensión Florestal Andino Patagónico).
LB has been member of the organizing committee of scientific conferences, presented invited lectures in international and national conferences, and has presented >480 oral/poster communications, including papers in conference proceedings, has been member of PhD and Master defenses. LB has also teaching experience in Chemistry of Natural Products, Biochemistry, Bioactivity of Natural Products, Biochemistry, Biotechnology of Pharmaceutical and Laboratory Biotechnology. She has reviewed more than 240 papers from 35 different International Peer Review Journals, 11 international book proposals and 4 PhD thesis “Doctor Europeus” from the Complutense Univ. of Madrid and Univ. of Salamanca.
