Biography

My research interests center around modeling and studying neurological diseases. I believe that utilizing the unique features of different disease models is crucial to answer different research questions and to test various therapeutic approaches. This will have a valuable future impact in helping patients and families suffering from such diseases.

To achieve that, first, I utilize pharmacological or genome-editing techniques to generate the models. Second, different molecular, biochemical, cellular and/or behavioral techniques are being used for model characterization. The distinct characterized phenotypes are being used for further rescue experiments.

For example, I have been working on polyglutamine diseases and memory disorders using zebrafish, cell culture and mouse models.

My long-term goal is to be always enhancing and implementing my expertise in different techniques and model systems to develop challenging research questions and enjoy interdisciplinary science with fruitful collaborations.
