Biography
Cristiana is an Infectious Disease Medical Doctor graduated at the University of São Paulo (USP) in Brazil, where she also did her residency in Infectious Diseases and Master of Sciences (MSc) program. Cristiana holds a Ph.D. in Epidemiology and post-doctoral training in Health Technology Assessment from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Brazil. In addition, she holds a Post graduate certificate in Health Economics from the University of York (York, UK) and has been trained as a field epidemiologist at the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Program of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). After working as an adviser for the Brazilian Ministry of Health on Public Health research, she rejoined CDC as an epidemiologist working with the Global Immunization Program, when she was detailed to the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) and later to the World Health Organization (WHO) for a decade. Since 2010, Cristiana is a professor of epidemiology and public health at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG) in Brazil, where her main areas of research are epidemiology of vaccine-preventable diseases and economic evaluation of public health interventions. She is a member of two WHO’s Strategic Adevisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) working groups – on COVID-19 and pneumococcal vaccines, and also a member of Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) Technical Advisory Group of Experts (TAG) on immunization. She is currently involved in several COVID related research and support to public policies, coordinating a reserach network on COVID modelling supported by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research (CNPq), she sits in several COVID emergency operations committees at the University, municipal and state health levels. She is also a member of the Fiocruz Interinstitutional Technical-Scientific Advisory Board for Anti-Covid-19 vaccines. She has published over 90 peer-reviewed papers, several book chapters, and presented over 100 abstracts in international conferences.
