John Marx is Professor of English and member of the Humanities Innovation Lab at the University of California, Davis. He is also an Editor of the journal “Contemporary Literature.” With University of South Carolina film scholar Mark Garrett Cooper, he is completing a book that reveals how the problem of mass media defines the humanities in the modern American research university. Marx is author of two books with Cambridge University Press as well as numerous articles on contemporary, postcolonial, and modernist fiction. His most recent book is “Geopolitics and the Anglophone Novel, 1890-2011” (Cambridge UP, 2012).
