Biography

Fresh from New College of Florida with a bachelor's degree in religious studies, I found myself unsure of a career path. Faced with this conundrum, I went to the local library to investigate potential professions. If the inclination to resolve my questions through library research were not indication enough, the underlying core values I discovered in librarianship resembled the best and most inspirational elements of my liberal arts education. Throughout my career in librarianship, I have continued to revisit the core values of privacy, collaboration, stewardship, equality of access, and intellectual freedom.

As a researcher I am interested in the effect of technology on patrons’ interactions with libraries, particularly the implications of library values on these technologically mediated exchanges. As such, my research focuses on topics involving privacy, social networking sites, open source technology, and scholarly communications.
