Biography

Following my background in neuroscience nursing and BSc., I have focussed on bacterial pathogenesis studying Treponema pallidum, the syphilis spirochete, and its interactions with host cells, particularly human platelets. I have utilized dark field, confocal and scanning electron microscopy as well as flow cytometry to examine these interactions. I am intrigued by effect that pathogens and host cells have on each other during interactions and studying T. pallidum has provided some fascinating results and many new questions.
