Biography
I am a Chemical Engineer (from 2000) and hold a Ph.D. (from 2005) from the University of Huelva, where I serve as a Full Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, and Materials Science. My research focuses on R&D&I in lubricants and lubrication, including optimizing the manufacturing process of lubricating greases, replacing toxic components in traditional lubricants with environmentally friendly alternatives, and characterizing these substances' rheological, thermal, microstructural, and tribological properties. My work in lubricating greases and biolubricants has significantly impacted the scientific community. In addition to this innovative research, I am also exploring current models of the circular economy and ecological transition. I have developed an efficient method for transferring cellulose nanofibers from hydrogel to vegetable oil using methanol as a solvent. Moreover, I have obtained fractions of frying oil from various sources through molecular distillation for sustainable lubrication. Recently, my studies have also focused on electrorheological fluids for the electro-active control of lubrication.
