Biography
Judith obtained her PhD in Neuroscience from the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany. The thesis, supported by a scholarship from the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology, was focused on understanding the hippocampal mechanisms underlying learning and memory processes, and was conducted under the mentorship of Professor Mario Engelmann at the Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology. In September 2017 she joined the Neurula lab to apply her skills and knowledge to investigate neurodegenerative diseases. Her main focus in the Neurula lab is to investigate the effects of neuroinflammation in the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease and develop novel immune-based therapies that will potentially benefit patients in the future.
