Pinheiro, M.A.A.

I am an Invertebrate Zoology Professor (Ph.D.), with interest in aspects related with biology, ecology, management and conservation biology of decapod crustaceans (mainly crabs and swimming-crabs). Actually I am working about crustaceans as biodindicators of conservation status of mangroves and beaches. I am studying too pollution, with principal focus on metals and its effect of biodiversity in coastal ecosystems. The influence on biodiversity and conservation status based on crustacean species are confirmed by metal concentrations studies, as well as genotoxicity and citotoxicity using biomarkers.
