Biography
I am a postdoctoral research fellow at Priority Research Center for Healthy Lungs, University of Newcastle. I obtained my PhD in Reproductive Medicine from the University of Newcastle (2020). My PhD research examined the effect of antenatal care and severe maternal complications on neonatal near-miss in south Ethiopia. As part of my PhD, I have published five high-quality papers in high impact (Q1) journals.
I have teaching and research experience. I have expertise in a range of research methodologies including quantitative and mixed methods and have utilized them to generate high-quality evidence for those factors that affect maternal and newborn health. My research area focuses on pregnancy and childbirth, covering pregnancy complications, maternal and neonatal mortality, and contraceptive use.
My current research focuses on investigating the impact of bushfire smoke on pregnant and/or breastfeeding women with mild asthma and adults with severe asthma. I have been conducting reviews for BMC Women's health, BMC Reproductive Health, BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, PLOS One, BMJ open, European Journal of Contraception and Reproductive Health Care, BMJ international journal for equity in health. I am currently an Academic Editor for the journal BMC Women's Health and PLOS One.
