Biography
Graduated from the Faculty of Animal Science and Aquaculture of the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece (1997), holder of Master (MSc) in Food Science and Technology (2000) and PhD in Agricultural Sciences (scientific field: Food Safety and Hygiene of Foods of Animal Origin) from the same university (2003) through a 3-year scholarship provided by the Greek State Scholarship Foundation (IKY). Postdoctoral research at Agriculture University of Athens (Laboratory of Food Quality Control and Hygiene), Wageningen University, The Netherlands (Laboratory of Food Microbiology, Prof. M.H. Zwietering) and University of Turin, Italy (Laboratory of Food Microbiology, Associate Prof. L. Cocolin) includes study and training on issues related to predictive microbiology, microbiological risk assessment, physiology of food-borne pathogens (Bacillus cereus) under stressful conditions and molecular microbiology techniques and methods (genomics - transcriptomics) (Listeria monocytogenes in foods of animal origin).
