Biography
My research focuses mainly on the Earth and environmental sciences, natural philosophy, and medicine in early modern Europe, with important forays into modern and contemporary contexts. My current project aims to understand how the debate on mineral generation and natural resource management in early modern Europe influenced the development of natural philosophy, the Earth sciences, and the role of humans as geological and environmental agents.
I am Contributing Editor for the Isis Current Bibliography of the History of Science. I believe in the Digital Humanities and Open Access ideals of accessibility and democratization of knowledge: I strive to make my work accessible to a virtually unlimited audience of students, scholars and academics, as well as to the general public.
I believe in freedom of expression and dissent (yes, even in academia).
