Biography
Professor Angelo Antonini is Full Professor of Neurology at the Department of Neuroscience of the University of Padua and Head of the Movement Disorders Unit, of the Rare Neurological Diseases Center (ERN-RND) and of the European Huntington Disease (EHDN) center at the Neurology Clinic of the University Hospital of Padua. The Unit is made up of 3 neurologists with experience in movement disorders, 5 trainee neurologists, a dedicated nurse, 3 neuropsychologists and a clinical trial coordinator. The Unit follows a population of approximately 2100 patients with Parkinson's and 400 with rare movement disorders in adults and children including 50 symptomatic and asymptomatic subjects with Huntington disease.
Professor Antonini is the PI of an Horizon2020 project (2019-2022) on the development of monitoring systems for advanced movement disorders patients in need of palliative care and the WP leader of a second Horizon 2020 project (2021-2024) on the definition of progression paths Parkinson's using intelligence.
His research focuses on the genotypic and phenotypic characterization of patients, on the pharmacology of the dopaminergic system, on neuroimaging and on the cognitive and behavioral aspects of Parkinson's disease, MSA, PSP and Huntington disease.
He is president of the European section of the Movement Disorders Society. He has published 561 indexed manuscripts and several book chapters. The Scopus H-Index is 95 and has 31,180 citations and is among the top 80 Italian scientists in the field of Clinical Sciences.
