Biography

During the last years, I have carried out my duties as Associate Professor in the field of Immunology at the Faculty of Health Sciences, within the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Genetics, and Immunology at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Here, I have shared my profound knowledge with students and colleagues.

In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I have also developed my career in the research field. My expertise focuses on studying the function of LXR receptors in macrophages, particularly in homeostasis conditions and inflammatory responses, contributing to the scientific community with publications in renowned journals such as Nature Immunology, PNAS, and Cancer Research.

My laboratory experience spans from fundamental techniques like Western blot, qPCR, and the handling of primary mouse cell cultures and cell lines to more advanced methods such as ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, or scRNA-seq. Furthermore, I possess proficiency in utilizing bioinformatics tools such as Bowtie2, STAR, HOMER, MACS in the command line on LINUX, and programming languages like Python or R (Bioconductor) for the analysis of massive sequencing data.

This integrated approach in both laboratory work and bioinformatics has enabled me to make significant contributions to the field of immunology, including collaborations with other research groups. My dedication to research and teaching, along with continuous efforts, aims to further advance the understanding of the intricate immunological mechanisms regulating macrophage function.
